A foundation. . .this is how important it is. When I pastored in Wyoming, I was told a story of a pastor who rushed to purchase property in Cody, WY. The land was cheap, however, one needed to be careful where you purchased land. Not all land is equal! Throwing caution to the wind, he purchased a plot of land and built his retirement home there. Cody, WY is a perfect place to retire as it has all 4 seasons and it's a quiet and beautiful place to live.
Building his beautiful home, the pastor rushed the foundation process. Not sure how, but that's what I was told. After less than a year after moving into the home, his foundation started to fail and so did his home! That story has stayed with me all these years and in every home we have lived, I mentally asked the question, "How's the foundation in this home?"
When the foundation of your home fails, so does everything else! It holds everything in place and it's a disaster when it falls apart. What about your spiritual life? On what foundation is your spiritual life built? Is it built upon the foundation of your parent's faith? Your friend's faith? Or your own personal relationship with Jesus?
May you, this Sabbath, take some time to ask yourself, "Upon what foundation is my spiritual life built? Is it built upon Jesus, or something else?" These types of questions cause you to reflect, and if you're honest, causes you to take a different path than the one you are on. May God help us this Sabbath day to have our spiritual lives built upon the Rock that is Jesus!
So, until the next time, this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thoughts do change lives!
