Have you heard of the argument between nature or nuture? By nature, what is meant is the pre-wiring and influence received by the genetic inheritance and/or other biological factors. In essence, you are what you are by the genetic codes given to you at birth. By nature, what is meant is the influence of external factors after conception: in essence, the product of exposure, life experience, and the learning of an individual.
When we consider our lives, are we a product of nature or nurture? That is what's been argued for decades by leading psychologists. I don't want to add or subtract from the argument, but perhaps modify it. Is your spiritual walk with Master Jesus a product of nature or nuture? Do we naturally desire God? The answer is no. The Bible is clear.
Do we nurture a relationship with God? Yes. We do so by our devotion to Him, our time spent with Him, and our dedication toward His cause. But what if it's not so much our nurture of the relationship that makes the difference, but God nurturing of us? What would happen in your life if you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was a God who nurtured you in your relationship with Him so that you could be what He desires you to be?
That reality would change your life. Why? Because in this life as a Christian you are not alone. You are given, as the Apostle Peter said, "According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue," 2 Peter 1:2, KJV. This concept of "all things that pertain..." is crucial to understand.
We serve a God who gives "all" to His creation to be what He designed us to be! Praise God for that. No other god provides that reality! No other being can give what God is freely offering to you today. What will you do with the gift He's offering to you right now? Will you take it? This Sabbath, may you take what is freely given by the God that desires to nurture your life!
So, until the next time, this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thoughts do change lives!
