How damaging is a vengeful heart? Like when someone, whether close to you or not, has done something against you. All you think about is getting even or getting them back for what they did to you. How damaging is that reality in your life? According to psychologists, having a vengeful heart comes with a price.
And what is that price? Well, instead of you being able to move on with your life, you get stuck dwelling on the situation and remaining unhappy. That state of emotional imbalance leaves you unfulfilled in life and desiring something that life is not giving you. You start to feel cheated and then you become cynical, hateful, and untrusting of everyone. It's a prison!
Furthermore, psychologists have found that people who are more vengeful tend to be those who are motivated by power, by authority and by the desire for status. They don't want to look bad or lose face in front of people. Again, this type of life is a prison that is created by your own mind in order to not be hurt like you've been hurt in the past. But what if there's another way?
What if we were not meant to be vengeful but allow someone else to avenge our situation? What psychological advantage would that reality have? We have been learning about the Egyptian gods and the beliefs that the Egyptians had in reference to their gods. We have learned how the plagues against Egypt attacked those beliefs and God attempted to reach all hearts with His vision for humanity.
Perhaps, just maybe...God has a vision, a plan for your life in this area of wanting revenge for the things that have happened to you. Perhaps, in God's vision and plan you don't have to live unhappy and filled with remorse or pain. Perhaps, there is a better way, God's way. Today, listen to the subject of the Vengeful Cat, and avoid something that only belongs to God.
