Here Is A Thought

Here is a thought: Behavior is an outward expression of an inward reality of a change in one's life. And not the outward compliance of a set of predetermined rules. If this statement is true, could Christian behavior fall into a category of irrelevance based on the outward compliance of well-meaning Christians? Yes, in fact, it is the reality of compliance to a predetermined set of rules that emasculates the power of the Christian behavior.

Wherein lies the power of Christian behavior? If one argues that it lies in the obedient acts of the Christians, one is only telling half of the story. If the power lies solely with God  . . again . . . that is only half of the story. What if, the power lies in a perfect marriage of the acts of God and our response to those acts in our lives? What if the power lies in a concerted effort on both parties?

In the Seventh-day Adventist church, behavior is paramount. In fact, one will clearly see what "type" of Adventist you are by the behaviors you display for all to see. I submit that what one sees is NOT the full story, rather a partial reality of what God is doing in the lives of those that surrender their wills to the Master Jesus.

Now, Christian behavior, change, and transformation are ideas, concepts that become a reality when one surrenders oneself to the Master. While it is possible to actuate change by means of other entities, lasting and eternal changes come from a lasting and eternal God. Your life is given shape by the God who lives in you.

This Sabbath, where is God in your life? Is He outside of the door of your heart? Is He in some closet hidden from view? Is He . . . gone? Where is God in your life right now? Furthermore, if He is gone  . . . what do you do? How can you change that? Listen, learn and apply.

So, until the nest time this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thoughts do change lives.
