How do you honor your mother? I know, it's a loaded question. For some, their mothers have been and continue to be an ongoing inspiration. For still others, well, the question raises the levels of anxiety and the memories of pain and trauma. I have realized through the years that all mothers, whether good or bad, are . . . well . . . human. That human trait makes them incredible. Why?
Mothers are incredible due to their unwavering love, nurturing care, and immense sacrifices they make for their children. They are known for their patience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of their children . . . and might I add . . . their husbands. This weekend is Mother's Day weekend; a day to remember the mother who has made an impact in your life.
I get it. Not all have had a wonderful impact, but there have been mother figures that have made that impact in your life. May you this day remember these powerful words from God, "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! - Isaiah 49:15, NIV.
So, yes, it's probably that your mother has not been a great example of greatness or of unconditional love and care, but God has. God is. God will continue to be what your earthly mother was not able to be. He will be that presence of unwavering love, nurturing care, and will continue making immense sacrifices for all His children.
Happy Mother's Day to all those who stand to make an impact on live. Happy Mother's Day to all new mothers who are entering into the greatest work you can ever have. Happy Mother's Day to all those who fall short of the ideal, however, still are willing, able and desiring to that which is right! Truly, Happy Mother's Day!
So, until the next time, this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thoughts do change lives.
