A legend is told, which I heard when I first became a Christian . . . It was about a man driving down a lone country road, when all of a sudden from his rearview mirror he caught sight of a semi-truck racing down the road. Without any hesitation on the part of the truck driver, the truck swerved and passed the car and cut him off so violently that the man had to slam on his breaks to avoid a collision.
Collecting himself from the near impact situation, he continued down the same road but with a new fear of driving. As the miles continued to pass, again looking in his rearview mirror this man caught a glimpse of the same semi-truck bearing down the road racing toward him. Realizing the intent of this truck driver, the driver of the car refused to let this semi-truck pass and make a fool out of him a second time.
As the semi-truck approached, the man accelerated his vehicle refusing passage to the truck. But, alas, the truck passed him and again cut him off. Bewildered as to the outcome, the man sat there in his car wondering what to do. That's when, as he sat there on the side of the road, there was a knock on his driver's door window. It was Jesus. He asked the man if he could drive. Realizing that he was failing, he allowed Jesus to take the wheel. As they talked, the semi-truck approached at hight speed.
Jesus didn't even flinch. He just kept driving. And the vehicle that ended up stopping on the side of the road was not the car but the truck. The man realizing that Jesus was able to just keep driving took back the control of the car and tried to do what Jesus had done. Alas, he failed again and again. The lesson . . . Let Jesus have control of the life you think you have control over.
May this Sabbath day find you giving up the control over the life you think you control. May you find the peace that comes with giving Jesus everything that will make you truly . . . joyful!
So, until the next time this is Pastor Tello remind you that thoughts do change lives!
